[DESTACADO] EL MUSEO GUGGENHEIM DE BILBAO ES ELEGIDA LA OBRA ARQUITECTÓNICA MÁS IMPORTANTE DE LOS ÚLTIMOS 30 AÑOS

Bilbao, 01 Sep. 10 (MUNDOARK).- La revista Vanity Fair publico el resultado de una consulta que hizo a 52 expertos en arquitectura, en la que se incluían 11 premios pritzker. Se les pidió que hicieran una lista sobre las que consideraban eran las 5 obras mas importantes de los últimos 30 años, con 28 votos, el Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao, obra de Frank Gehry, ocupo el primer puesto.


Otras obras muy votadas fueron:

- Renzo Piano, Menil Collection
- Peter Zumthor, Baños Termales
- Sir Norman Foster, Edificio HSBC


“LA ARQUITECTURA NO SE TRATA DE PALABRAS…”

El Museo Guggenheim fue inaugurado en 1997 y desde entonces ha recibido una media de 1 millón de visitantes al año, lo que impulso el turismo en la ciudad Vasca y revitalizo su economía.

El mismo Frank Gehry no se imagino el impacto que tendría su obra cuando confeso haber pensando al verlo antes de su inauguración “'Oh, Dios mío, ¿qué he hecho a esta gente?", conto que le tomo un tiempo para que empezara a gustarle.

El diseño tan innovador del museo llego por un estudio que hizo Frank Gehry de los peces, “Creo que el estudio de los peces me permitió crear una especie de lenguaje personal”, le llamo la atención sus formas, su movimiento, busco que las paredes exteriores del museo parecieran escamas, esto por la observación que hizo de la naturaleza y su sistema para cubrir superficies curvas en los animales. Decidió no usar acero inoxidable porque decía que no correspondía al cielo de Bilbao, en su lugar uso titanio en aleación con zinc.

El edificio se caracteriza principalmente por sus formas retorcidas y curvilíneas, cada pieza del museo tiene una forma única, no hay una sola superficie plana en todo el museo. Debido a esta complejidad se uso para el diseño un programa informático llamado Catia que permite la posibilidad de diseñar escultóricamente manteniendo el control de la geometría y la constructibilidad, estas formas hubieran sido imposibles de realizar tan solo unas décadas atrás.


Thomas Krens, ex director del Guggenheim dijo sobre Fank Gehry: “Fue un arquitecto interesante hasta que Bilbao abrió. Después de eso, se convirtió en un arquitecto trascendente”

El reconocido arquitecto Philip Johnson, padrino de la arquitectura moderna, al conocer el museo en 1998, con lagrimas en los ojos dijo su recordada frase: “La arquitectura no se trata de palabras, la arquitectura es acerca de lagrimas y de amor”

Desde el 2007 el Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao es uno de los 12 tesoros de España.
